Itinerary:
① Pick up at the lobby of your hotel in Downtown Shanghai in early morning, and drive for 1.5 hours to Suzhou for your visiting. You will visit the most famous sightseeing spots like humble administrator's garden, pan gate, Grand Canal and silk museum. Have lunch in a local restaurant in the town. Drive to shanghai in the later afternoon.
② The the Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest classical garden in Suzhou and one of the four most famous classical gardens in China. It was originally built in 1513 A.D by Wang Xianchen, an imperial censor who had just been demoted and sent back to his hometown.
③ Panmen City Gate: It is the oldest city gate in existence in Suzhou city. It used to be one of the eight city gates during the Spring & Autumn Annals (770-476 BC) when Suzhou was the capital of the Wu Kindom. The current gate was reconstructed in 1351. It consists of Water and Land Gates, city gate.
④ The Grand Canal, 1,764 km (about 1200 miles) in length, is the longest man-made waterway as well as being the greatest in ancient China, far surpassing the next two grand canals of the world: the Suez and Panama Canals.
⑤ Suzhou No. 1 Silk Museum: Silk production in China has a history of 6,000 years. As early as the fifth century B.C., silk was exported to Asia, Europe and Africa along the Old Silk Road, making an outstanding contribution to world civilization. Suzhou has been a silk producer for centuries.
